Tech Pals is deeply committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) both within our organization and in the communities we serve. Our commitment to DEI is not just a statement but an integral part of how we operate on a daily basis.
To ensure that our commitment to DEI is upheld, we have implemented several practices. Firstly, every volunteer, Tech Pal, staff member, and new board member undergoes an onboarding process that includes reading and acknowledging our diversity and inclusion statement, which is available in both English and Spanish. This ensures that everyone involved in our organization understands and aligns with our principles of inclusivity.
We firmly believe that age should never be a barrier to accessing our services, and we actively promote non-discrimination based on age. Our dedication to inclusivity extends to every aspect of our operations, including employment, recruitment, promotions, and the provision of services. In this regard, we have reached out to organizations such as Out Boulder County and the Islamic Center to inform them about our services and research. We have also established connections with the Center for People with Disabilities, enabling us to extend our support to marginalized individuals facing various challenges.
Our mission statement, "Enrich your life. Embrace technology," reflects our commitment to bring older adults and everyone together through technology. We firmly believe that a basic understanding of technology is a fundamental right, not a privilege. By reducing social isolation and frustration, we strive to empower older adults and individuals from all backgrounds, helping them maintain their dignity and improve their quality of life as they age.
In our pursuit of equitable service delivery, Tech Pals actively seeks ways to address any gaps and ensure that our services are accessible to all marginalized populations within the older adult community. We continuously evaluate our marketing strategies to reach out to underrepresented groups and tailor our approach to meet their specific needs.
