Volunteers Needed at Tech Pals: Enriching Lives of Older Adults Through Technology
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of older adults? At Tech Pals, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we believe in empowering older adults by bringing technology into their lives and fostering independence. We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to join our team and contribute to our mission of enriching the lives of older adults through technology.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- VR Silver Research Program: Volunteers are needed to support our VR Silver research program, which aims to establish best practices for introducing and delivering virtual reality technology equitably to older adults. Help us pioneer innovative approaches that enhance cognitive function, social engagement, and overall well-being for seniors.
- Tech Pal Support: Become a Tech Pal and directly assist older adults with their devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. Help them gain technological independence, navigate digital platforms, and discover new opportunities for connection and enrichment.
- Fundraising and Grant Writing: Join our fundraising team to help us secure the necessary resources to continue our vital work. Assist in organizing fundraising events, reaching out to potential donors, or writing grant proposals to support our programs and initiatives.
- Internet Content Creation: Utilize your creativity and digital skills to develop engaging content for our online platforms. Create educational materials, tutorials, and blog posts that empower older adults to leverage technology for their benefit.
- Outreach and Community Engagement: Help us raise awareness about Tech Pals and our services by actively engaging with the community. Share our mission, participate in community events, and collaborate with local organizations to spread the word about our programs and research.

Donation Opportunities
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share some important news about Tech Pals, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to helping older adults embrace technology and enrich their lives. Unfortunately, our contract with Boulder County recently expired, and the funding was not renewed, leaving us in a challenging situation. We are reaching out to you, our valued supporters, for help.
Over the years, Tech Pals has made a tremendous impact, assisting hundreds of older adults in various ways. We have distributed Chromebooks, set up hotspots, enrolled low-income older adults in government internet programs, provided personalized technology training, and conducted workshops on online safety, optimizing online searches, and utilizing basic smartphone features. We have helped many individuals and families bridge the digital divide and embrace the benefits of technology. However, without the vital funding from Boulder County, we are facing financial difficulties not only in operating our programs but also in continuing our essential services.
We now find ourselves in urgent need of financial support to sustain our organization and programs. Tech Pals not only requires funding for our general operating expenses but also seeks additional resources to advance our research and development program, VR Silver. VR Silver focuses on establishing best practices for the introduction and equitable delivery of virtual reality technology to older adults, ultimately enriching their lives. This innovative program has the potential to create transformative experiences for older adults, enhancing cognitive function, promoting social engagement, and expanding their horizons.
To continue our mission and overcome these challenges, we rely on the generous contributions of individuals like you. Your support will enable us to cover our basic operating expenses, for minor things such as office supplies pens paper ink cartridges, to major expenses such as insurance and everything in between, including website maintenance, utilities, rent, gasoline, marketing, advertising, equipment maintenance and repair, training expenses, and outreach initiatives, among others. By addressing these fundamental needs, we can ensure the sustainability of Tech Pals and continue providing invaluable services to older adults in our community.
